Sarah Buckland
Sarah is a registered psychologist with over 20 years of experience working in the health and disability sector. She enjoys supporting both children and adults and works with a wide range of needs, including autism, ADHD, trauma, anxiety, depression, and complex behavioural challenges. Sarah takes a client-centred, trauma-informed, and neuro-affirming approach, creating a safe and supportive environment for the people she works with.
Sarah completed her Master’s in Psychology at the University of Auckland and her Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Psychology at the University of Waikato. Her work is guided by evidence-based practice, and she tailors interventions to each person’s individual needs. She draws on a range of therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, Solution-Focused Therapy, and EMDR.
Sarah has extensive experience supporting individuals with complex needs and works within a Positive Behaviour Support framework. She has worked closely with families, support staff, schools, and community services to develop practical strategies that improve wellbeing and daily functioning. Sarah has also delivered training for parents, teachers, and support staff to help them apply behaviour support approaches in everyday settings.
She values working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds and strives to create a warm, respectful, and inclusive space for everyone she supports.
